Frequently asked questions.

  • I believe therapy should be personalized, as it’s not a "one-size-fits-all" process. That’s why I offer a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Humanistic Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Person-centered humanistic therapy.

The approach we choose together will be based on what best suits your unique needs and preferences. I take into account the evidence supporting each method for your specific concerns and regularly check in to ensure that the therapy remains effective and aligned with your goals, so you feel satisfied with your progress.

    Consultancy & Speaking

I offer consultancy, training, and speaking in the field of psychological knowledge, therapeutic practice, and careers in Counselling Psychology.

If you would like to have a discussion about booking me as a speaker, consultant or lecturer or you would like to work together to develop a course, please get in touch via the contact form.

  • If you're considering therapy with me, please reach out through the 'Contact' page and provide a brief description of the challenges you're currently facing using the contact form. I’ll respond via email to arrange a convenient time for an initial assessment session.

  • Therapy sessions typically last for 50 minutes, and I offer the flexibility of conducting them either online via video call or over the phone. Once we've scheduled a session, I’ll send you a link in advance to join the remote consultation at the agreed-upon time. This ensures that you're all set and ready to connect without any last-minute technical issues.

  • My aim is to tailor therapy specifically to you, applying evidence-based approaches to help you achieve a difference in your life. An initial session with me is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin exploring your concerns in a safe, non-judgmental space. During this first meeting, I’ll ask you about the challenges you’re facing, your history, and any relevant background information to better understand your needs. This helps me gain a comprehensive view of your situation and enables us to discuss potential approaches to therapy that might be most helpful for you.

The session will also include time for you to ask any questions you may have about the therapy process, what to expect going forward, and how we can work together to achieve your goals. My aim is to make you feel comfortable, heard, and supported as we start this journey together. At the end of the session, we’ll discuss a plan for moving forward, including the type of therapy that could best address your needs, and the next steps to take in your therapeutic journey.

  • The number of sessions you may need can vary depending on your individual circumstances, the nature of the challenges you're facing, and your personal goals for therapy. Some people find that they make significant progress in just a few sessions, while others may choose to engage in therapy for a longer period to work through deeper or more complex issues.

During our initial sessions, we’ll discuss your specific concerns and develop a plan that feels right for you. I regularly review your progress and together we’ll evaluate whether the current approach is effective and whether any adjustments are needed. Therapy is a flexible process, and I will support you in finding a pace and length of treatment that feels comfortable and beneficial for your needs.

Ultimately, the goal is to help you achieve lasting change and feel confident in your progress—whether that takes a few sessions or a longer-term commitment.

  • Yes, therapy is confidential. What you share with me during our sessions is kept private, and I adhere to strict professional and ethical guidelines to ensure your privacy is respected. This means that your personal information, thoughts, and feelings shared in therapy are not disclosed to anyone without your explicit consent, except in a few exceptional cases, such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law.

At the beginning of our work together, I’ll explain the limits of confidentiality and ensure you fully understand how your information is protected. Creating a safe and trusting environment is essential for effective therapy, and confidentiality is a key part of that process. If you have any concerns about privacy or confidentiality, I encourage you to ask, and I’ll be happy to address them.

If a session is canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, the full session fee will apply. I understand that sometimes unexpected and exceptional situations arise, and I will do my best to be flexible when possible, but I kindly ask that you respect this policy to ensure fairness to all clients.

  • The effectiveness of therapy can vary depending on a range of factors, including the nature of the issues you're facing, your level of engagement in the process, and the therapeutic approach used. However, research consistently shows that therapy can be highly effective in helping individuals manage and overcome a wide variety of mental health challenges.

Therapy provides a safe and supportive space to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and it equips you with the tools to create meaningful change. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, or other difficulties, therapy can help you gain insight, develop coping strategies, and make positive shifts in your life.

The success of therapy is also enhanced by regular feedback and collaboration between you and your therapist. I work with clients to regularly review progress and adjust the approach as needed, ensuring that therapy remains relevant and effective for your specific needs.

While therapy can be a transformative process, it's important to keep in mind that results take time, and the pace of progress can differ from person to person. Many clients start feeling improvements within a few sessions, while others may take longer to fully process and resolve deeper challenges. Ultimately, the goal is to help you feel more empowered, resilient, and equipped to navigate life's challenges.
